Peter Iverson PHOTOGRAPHER
When I was growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, I was surrounded by artists. My mother, great uncle, brother in law and closest friend were all painters, and collectively they had a profound influence on me.
When I was only 8 or 9 years old my brother in law taught me how to develop black and white film and to make small contact prints from the photos I took with my simple Kodak Brownie camera, thus sparking an early interest in photography which still intrigues me to this day.
In my college years I became deeply involved with fine art photography, eventually earning my MFA degree from Florida State University. I spent the next several years teaching, first at Florida State and later as a visiting artist/professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County before segueing into commercial photography as the founder of Source Photographic Group in the mid 1990’s. In 2013 I decided to return to my roots as a fine arts photographer.
I have participated in over 40 national and regional invitational and competitive exhibits and received two Individual Artist Fellowships from the State of Florida Fine Arts Council. My work is held in several private and public collections in the US and abroad. Since returning to fine arts photography in 2013, I have been exhibiting work online with web galleries such as Saatchiart.com and Artfinder.com and on my own website, www.piverson.com.
My wife and I reside in Baltimore and are the proud parents of two wonderful children, one an actor and the other an opera singer. https://www.piverson.com
